Motive Mirror is built so you can get help with a message, a situation, or an upcoming conversation without handing it over. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect and what we don't.
What you share
Motive Mirror doesn't store the messages you paste, the screenshots you upload, the situations or events you describe, or anything you type in “Anything I should know?” or “How are you feeling about it?”. They aren't saved to a database or written to our logs, and they're gone from the page when you leave it.
Before a screenshot leaves your device, your browser resizes it and removes photo details such as location data.
What we do log
For each read, we log only:
- the type of result (for example, a standard read or a safety read)
- the confidence level
- who you said sent the message, was involved, or will be there (for example, Friend or Coworkers)
- for messages, whether you pasted text or uploaded a screenshot
If you answer “Was this helpful?”, we log your answer with the same details and which tool you used. None of this includes what you wrote or shared.
Like most websites, our web server (nginx) also keeps standard access logs: your IP address, the time, the page you requested, and your browser type. We use them only for security and troubleshooting, and they're deleted automatically after 14 days, along with the server's error log.
Cloudflare
All traffic between your browser and Motive Mirror passes through Cloudflare, which protects the site from attacks and helps it load quickly. That includes what you send to the tools, on its way to our server. To do this, Cloudflare processes your IP address and technical details of each request, such as your browser type.
Cloudflare may also set a strictly necessary security cookie, for example to tell people apart from automated traffic. Cloudflare's handling of this data is covered by Cloudflare's privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
Analytics and cookies
To see how people use Motive Mirror, so we can improve it, we use two analytics services. Google Analytics counts visits, the pages viewed, and a few actions, such as using a tool, the type of result, hitting the daily limit, answering “Was this helpful?”, or joining the waitlist. Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used, such as clicks and scrolling, so we can see where the site is confusing. Both set cookies on your device.
Neither of them gets what you share or what the AI writes. The text you paste or type, your screenshots, the situations and events you describe, the AI's results, and your email address are masked in Clarity's recordings. What we send to Google Analytics is limited to fixed details like which tool you used and the type of result, never text. We don't send a user ID, and advertising features are turned off in both.
If you're in the EU, the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, or we can't tell where you are, you'll see a banner first. Nothing from Google or Microsoft loads until you choose Accept, and if you choose Decline, they don't load at all. Elsewhere, analytics load by default with no banner, unless your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, which we treat as Decline.
To tell where you are, we use the country Cloudflare (see above) works out from your IP address. It reaches the site only as a two-letter country code, and it isn't stored.
You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. We remember it for six months in a cookie on your device. If you turn analytics off, we remove their cookies from this site and reload the page.

Our AI provider
Reads are created by an AI model from our AI provider, Google Gemini. To create your result, what you type or upload into a tool is sent to Google: your message, screenshot, or description, the chips you picked (such as who sent it or who will be there), and anything you added in the optional field.
We use Gemini on Google's paid tier. On the paid tier, Google doesn't use what you send to train or improve its products. Google keeps it for a limited time, only to detect and prevent abuse or meet legal requirements, and then deletes it. The details are in Google's Gemini API terms (opens in a new tab).
We don't store what you type or the results on our servers.
Daily free reads and your IP address
To limit free reads to 3 a day across all tools, we use your IP address. We don't store the address itself. We store a scrambled, one-way version of it (a hash) with a count of that day's reads, and the count is deleted automatically 24 hours after your last read.
These counts, and the waitlist emails below, are kept in a database (Redis) on our own server, not with a third-party service.
Waitlist emails
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address and the date you joined, in the same database on our own server. When you join, we send ourselves an email notification containing your address, through our email provider, Resend (opens in a new tab).
We'll only email you about the launch and major updates, and every email lets you unsubscribe. You can also ask us to remove your address at any time at [email protected].
